Areas of special focus

Clinical practice focused on the functional and molecular diagnosis of oncological, neurodegenerative, infectious, inflammatory and osteoarticular conditions using nuclear medicine and molecular imaging techniques.

  • Breast cancer: staging, monitoring of treatment, detection of recurrence, selective sentinel lymph node biopsy, radioguided localisation of lesions and radioiodine seeding.
  • Neurodegenerative diseases and cognitive impairment: functional assessment using 18F-FDG, amyloid and tau tracers, and 123I-ioflupane.
  • Prostate cancer: staging and detection of recurrence using PSMA-specific tracers.
  • General oncology: staging, restaging, detection of recurrence and assessment of response to treatment using 18F-FDG PET-CT.
  • Benign, infectious and inflammatory osteoarticular conditions: functional assessment using scintigraphy, SPECT/CT and PET-CT.

Techniques and procedures

Application of diagnostic, therapeutic and surgical support techniques specific to nuclear medicine, with a particular focus on PET-CT, radio-guided surgery, SPECT/CT and metabolic therapy.

  • Oncological and neurological PET-CT using multiple radiotracers: 18F-FDG, 68Ga/18F-PSMA, 18F-choline, 68Ga-DOTATOC, 18F-DOPA, amyloid and tau.
  • Radioguided surgery: sentinel lymph node biopsy in breast cancer, melanoma, gynaecology and head and neck; ROLL technique for parathyroid and lung surgery; and radioiodine seeds in breast cancer.
  • Conventional nuclear medicine using scintigraphy and SPECT/CT.
  • PET-CT for infectious and inflammatory diseases.
  • Metabolic therapy and pre-treatment consultation.
