Memorial Publio Cordón Hospital and Age Reversal present the Longevity Unit, headed by Dr José Hernández Poveda

The Unit takes a personalised medical approach aimed at gaining an in-depth understanding of a patient’s state of health, identifying risk factors and promoting healthy longevity.
Memorial Publio Cordón Hospital and Age Reversal are today launching the Longevity Unit, headed by Dr José Hernández Poveda, a neurosurgeon and expert in longevity medicine.
The Unit has developed a model based on a comprehensive health assessment, prevention and personalised monitoring, with the aim of identifying risk factors or potential health issues at an early stage and guiding decisions that help to preserve health, independence and quality of life in the long term.
For Dr María Cordón, founder and CEO of Memorial Publio Cordón Hospital, the launch of the Unit broadens the hospital’s focus on preventative care and responds to a form of medicine increasingly centred on individual health: ‘Longevity is not merely about living longer, but about ensuring that those years are lived in good health, with independence and a good quality of life. Dr José Hernández Poveda’s experience and medical expertise are essential to developing this project from a rigorous, personalised and truly preventative perspective.’
Know sooner to act sooner
The Age Reversal model combines medical assessment, diagnostic tests and follow-up. Depending on each person’s characteristics and needs, the programmes may include advanced laboratory tests, imaging studies, genetic testing, and cardiovascular and functional assessments, amongst other investigations. The results are analysed collectively to obtain a comprehensive overview of a person’s state of health and to draw up personalised recommendations.
Dr Hernández Poveda sums up this philosophy in a single idea: “Our aim is to know sooner so we can act sooner: it is not just about living longer, but about preserving health, independence and quality of life for as long as possible.”
The programme thus goes beyond a one-off health check-up. It aims to integrate clinical information, identify areas where action may be required and monitor progress over time, with a focus on years of life spent in good health.
Since the programme began at the hospital last June, nearly 40 people have already started their programme and completed the first phase of assessment.
The Longevity Unit is being launched today
The Longevity Unit is being launched today, 23 September, from 12:00 to 14:00, in the Pilar Muro Auditorium at Memorial Publio Cordón Hospital, at an event for invited guests, presented by Dr José Hernández Poveda and Dr María Cordón.
The event will provide an opportunity to learn about a project that approaches longevity from a medical and preventative perspective, focusing not only on living longer, but also on preserving health, independence and quality of life for longer.
